Livestock Guardian Dog
Because we live in a rural area, we have coyotes and mountain lions. To keep our goats safe from these predators, we employ Moses, our Great Pyrenees. It is Moses' job to keep the goats safe and he takes his job seriously. Nobody enters his pen without one of the family and even then, guests are cautioned as it is Moses' job to protect and if he thinks his goats are in danger, he will respond aggressively. He is a very big boy at 130+ pounds, so coyotes don't stand a chance!

This is Pansy.
She is our new Great Pyrenees X Akbash/Anatolian Shepherd pup.
She is learning to keep watch with Moses. So far, she is a very good girl.
Moses likes her pretty well.
This is Pansy all grown up. She has turned into a wonderful guardian. Moses did a good job of raising her. She is a beautiful white most of the time, but on this particular day (December 31, 2007) she had been out in the pasture apparently having a good time.
